Pink Elephant Baby Shower, part 1

Last week I think I mentioned I was working on a party package for a baby shower.  Today I'm sharing the first 2 of 5 projects that will be included in the package deal.

Let's start with the invitations:

Invitation
I think these turned out so cute!  I love the little elephant.  Card is a regular A2 size, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  The elephant is cut from the Paisley cricut cartridge.  The heart is cut from the Accent Essentials cricut cartridge.

Inside card
Baby Shower is cut from the Cuttin' Up cricut cartridge.  Another heart from Accent Essentials was added to the inside.

The second project is the coordinating Thank You notes.

Thank You note

The elephant and heart are the same ones used on the invitation.  Thank You was cut from the Cindy Loo cartridge.

Inside
The inside is the same as the invitation, but blank.  Lots of room for writing messages!

There are 3 more coordinating projects coming up to make the whole package!  I had so much fun making these!

Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!

Gift for Mom

We finally celebrated Mother's Day with my Mom and family this past weekend.  It was such a great day, I love when the family ~ or at least most of the family can get together.

Now that my Mom has her card and gift I can finally share  :)

Center Step Card using CTMH Chantilly papers

I was watching You Tube videos/tutorials one night and came across one for a center step card.  I thought it would be so pretty to show off the beautiful Chantilly paper from Close to my Heart.  The center scallop oval is from Elegant Edges, all layers cut at 4.75".  I used flower 2 image, using the oblong feature on shift for the Lagoon color background, then I cut the flower 2 image twice using the oblong feature without the shift, one for the layer in Buttercup yellow and one for the layer in White Daisy.  I cut the open scallops off the white layer and ran just the oval through the cuddlebug to emboss it and lightly inked the raised embossing with Buttercup yellow ink.

The butterfly came from the cricut cartridge Best Images of 2010 cut at 2".  I added some glitter glue for the antennae and body, papers used are from Close to my Heart Buttercup and Cotton Candy.

The Happy Mother's Day stamp is from Studio G and the rhinestones are from Close to my Heart, they are the pink glitter gems that come with the Chantilly Scrapbooking Kit.

For the gift, I found a recipe on Pinterest for a Gardener's Sugar Scrub.

This was super easy to mix up.  If you're interested, please go visit One Good Thing by Jillee - she has some amazing stuff!  I just picked up a cheap glass jar at Walmart to mix it in.

Using the same Chantilly paper pack, I cut a tag from Doodlecharms.  I used Cricut Craft Room and to make it double sided I hid the flower on one of the tags to make it solid and adhered the two together.  I switched out the cutting blade for the markers and added a text box to the solid tag to print "Gardener's Hand Scrub" and sized it to fit the tag.  I used some pink/white bakers twine to hang it from the jar.

I used a 3" circle punch to cut a piece of Chantilly paper and used some liquid quick dry glue to attach to the top of the jar lid.

I found a coordinating ribbon and adhered it around the jar with glue dots, using Mini Monograms I cut a scallop circle at 1 1/2" and a circle at 1 1/4" with the Cricut.  The stamps are from My Favorite Things.

Mother's Day 2013
I think this made a great Mother's Day gift, and would be great to add into a spa gift basket, or using a smaller jar, favors for a bridal shower.

I hope you enjoyed today's project.  If you have any comments or suggestions on things you'd like to see, please leave a comment and I would love if you would subscribe!  Have a great day!!

Kindergarten Graduation

Hi Everyone!  I've been super busy getting ready for my son's upcoming Kindergarten graduation.  Here are the invitations I've made to send home next week.

Card Front

I used Teddy Bear Parade, I think this is one of my favorite cartridges EVER!  I used Cricut craft room to manipulate  the size to 4" wide and 5 1/2" long so it will fit in a standard A2 size envelope.  I did not weld the images together to make this card though.  I cut one of the base images from white for the back of the card and one in black to layer for card front.

Inside card open

I scored the white image just below the ears and only applied adhesive to the top and attached behind the card front to make the shape card. I used white so I could include the details of the graduation and it worked out perfect with just enough room for the information.

Open standing
I think they turned out super cute!  I can't believe first grade is right around the corner already!!!   I'm also working on making each of the kids a graduation cap to wear and items to decorate the door ~ but that's for another day.

Hope you enjoyed!  I'll be back with more projects soon!

Happy Everything To You ~ joy fold card

I've been looking around on Pinterest and watching videos on You Tube to learn some new folds for cards.  There are so many interesting card folds that can really make a card special.  The joy fold card is one that I've been wanting to try for a while.

The cardstock used is from Recollections called Punchy Florals.  The pattern paper is from a super cute 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye called Fine and Dandy Girl. I love the bright colors in this one.

The stamp is from a Hero Arts set called Birthday.  I've been searching for a 'happy everything to you' stamp for a while and came across this one on Ebay.

The button is one I had, I used pink and white bakers twine and I glittered the button with some Studio G glitter glue.  The button is only half adhered down so the front of the card can tuck under one side to hold the card closed.

I think this would be one of those cards that would be great to add a pocket to the inside to hold a gift card. I think I'm going to need to try that the next time I make a joy fold card!

Hope you enjoy and Happy Everything To YOU!!!!  See you tomorrow  :)

Thanks so very much

Hi everyone!  Super busy today, so today's post is short and sweet.  I have a quick and easy thank you card to share.

I used the Cafe Mediterranean stack from DCWV for this card, both the cardstock and the pattern papers. I used a CTMH stamp For a Friend for the sentiment.  I masked off the border and just used the inside sentiment.

Quick and easy, clean and simple card!  Hope you enjoy!  If you have any questions, let me know.  Have a great day everyone!

Friendship

Hello my friends! I was looking for some inspiration over the weekend and turned to some card sketches on Pinterest I had found a while back.  And while I ended up not using any of them, it brought back some mojo and I came up with this friendship card....

I started with a white base cut 5" by 10" scored and folded at 5" for a 5x5 square card.  I used Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink over the entire front surface to give it more of an aged feel instead of the crisp clean white.   I love the papers on this and thought they were perfect for that distressed feel.  I cut strips 1x4 3/4, distressed the edges and inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink and adhered down.  I started with the two end strips and eyeballed the center strips.

Bo Bunny Little Miss Collection 6x6

The crochet trim is one I picked up at Hobby Lobby a while back.  It's a white trim that I inked with the tea dye distress ink using a sponge dauber.  The stamp is from Close To My Heart, D1542, For a Friend Occasions

This stamp set coordinates with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge.  I don't have this one yet (soon soon!!!), so I stamped the image on cream card stock and fussy cut it out.  Then I inked it with more tea dye distress ink.  I adhered that to another piece of pattern paper from the same collection and fussy cut again leaving a little border.  I attached to the card with foam tape for dimension.

Isn't this paper SO pretty!!!

inside card
For the inside, I used another of the patterns from the same collection, distressed and inked the edges with tea dye distress ink.  I punched a 3" circle from cream cardstock, inked the edges with more tea dye distress ink for a place to write a message.

I just love the way this card came out!  I hope you like it too!  Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Families are Forever

It's Friday!!  Another week almost over, another day closer to summer break.  My son's school has a balanced school year so, while all the other schools in town have their last day today, he will be in till June 4th.  With that in mind I'll be starting on some end of year projects for the kiddos in his class and his teacher soon.  But today, I have a home decor project that I actually made on Mother's Day.  My husband let me sleep in and I woke up to a clean kitchen and a fresh pot of coffee, he cooked breakfast and generally just let me relax all day.  My son made me the cutest mother's day book in school and colored me a picture.  I just couldn't imagine my life any different from what it is and I'm so very grateful for my wonderful family.  Which brings me to my canvas project:

I used an 8x10 canvas I had picked up in a pack of 2 at Walmart.  I used and old DecoArt paint I had, Buttermilk, to paint the canvas.  I trimmed a piece of turquoise paper 1/4" smaller on each side and glued it down with Scotch quick-dry liquid glue.  The pattern paper was from my stash so I'm not sure what pack it came from.  I cut that 1/8" smaller than the mat.  The center mat is 7 3/4" x 4" with a cream layer that is 1/4" smaller.  The sentiment is cut from the Just Because Cards cartridge at 3".  Once everything was glued down I covered the whole thing with 2 coats of Mod Podge to seal it well.

This is it's temporary home.  I am still looking for the right place for it  :)

That's it for today.  I'm working on a party package for a baby shower, those projects coming next week.  For now I have work and laundry and dishes.....does it seem like the 'to do' list is never ever done???  Have a great weekend!!!

Coffee!!

Welcome friends!  It's another beautiful day!  I'm sitting here with my windows open drinking my coffee and watching my son play before we have to leave for school in a little bit.  All is well in my world right now!  :)

Oh coffee, how I love you!  I don't know how I would survive without you!  Today's card is inspired by my love of coffee.

To create the shape card I used Damask Decor Cricut cartridge.  It's on button 30 and I used the shift feature.  I sized it at 5" and welded them together in Cricut Craft Room.  Then I used the same cut about a quarter of an inch smaller and cut 2 for the inside and outside mats.

I ran the mat through my cuddlebug using the Wicker Weave folder and lightly inked it with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  The coffee cup came from the Love You a Latte Lite Cricut cartridge.  It's coffee cup 2 on button 15 and I used Cricut Craft Room to hide the steam so I could just use the cup and sized it to 3 1/4".  I adhered it with 1 layer of foam tape to give a little dimension.  The word art stamp on the coffee cup is an Inkadinkado clear mini stamp called Friends Words.  The border stamp is a Maya Road stamp called Vintage Wallpaper and the Happy Birthday stamp is from a PaperTrey Ink set called Year-Round Puns.

I lighly inked the inside mat with the Walnut Stain distress ink again.  The sentiment is a My Creative Time set called Just a Little Note to Say...

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  This will be available in my Etsy shop for purchase.

I'll be back tomorrow with a quick home dec canvas project.  Have a wonderful day!

CTMH Chantilly Thank You Card

Good Morning!!  It's such a beautiful day here!  Thank goodness I worked on a lot of projects over the weekend because all I want to do is be outside with my son after work and school.

For today's card I pulled out the Chantilly paper that came with the CTMH consultant kit again.  I am in love with these papers, the colors are just perfect for this time of year!

This is a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card.  I used Cotton Candy as the card base and Buttercup and White Daisy for the mats.  The ribbon is from my ribbon stash.

I used the Chantilly papers for the rosettes and buttons from my button stash. The flourish stamp is from the set included with the Chantilly Scrapbooking Workshop On the Go.  The Thank You stamp is from set D1542 For a Friend Occasions.

I matted the inside with another Chantilly pattern paper and White Daisy cardstock and left blank.

If you are interested in products to make this card yourself, click on the Close To My Heart Shop Now button.  If you are interested in purchasing this card, click on the link to my Etsy Shop.

I'll be back tomorrow with another Cricut card.  I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Baby Shower

Hi everyone!  Over the weekend I was busy with something a little different.  I was asked to make a baby bottom cake for a boy baby shower.  These are so much fun!

The bottom  is a one layer 12" chocolate cake, iced and covered with white fondant.  The baby bottom is made from a 6" dome cake.  The legs and feet are made from rice krispie treats, iced and covered with flesh colored fondant.  The blanket is a piece of blue fondant and I ran my pizza cutter over it to make the quilted lines.  The border is blue and brown balls of fondant that were flattened.

The baby's name was added to the top.  I usually put the parents name on the side of the cake, but with this being only 1 layer, no filling I didn't have the room.  So I went to my trusty cricut and cut out sign using the Storybook cartride and ran it through my printer to get the sentiment centered on there.  The little rattle is from Cricut Sampler and the teddy bear is from the Christmas Solutions cartridge.

This was the second baby bottom cake I've done, the first was for a girl shower.

I think these are the most adorable cakes!

I'll be back tomorrow with a card I made using the CTMH Chantilly papers again.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Happy Anniversary

7 years ago today I married my best friend and our love grows stronger as each year passes.

5-13-06

Here is the card I made for my wonderful husband

I used the car image from the Sweethearts cartridge.  I used the shadow image in CCR and welded it together to make the card base.  The card and all the layers were cut at 5".

I used a CTMH stamp set called Bliss.  This stamp set is no longer available. There is however, in my opinion, an even better one called The Happy Couple.

I'm keeping this short and sweet today, I have a busy day ahead of me!  :)  Have a wonderful day and I will be back tomorrow with a baby shower cake I made over the weekend.
