Baby Shower

Hi everyone!  Over the weekend I was busy with something a little different.  I was asked to make a baby bottom cake for a boy baby shower.  These are so much fun!

The bottom  is a one layer 12" chocolate cake, iced and covered with white fondant.  The baby bottom is made from a 6" dome cake.  The legs and feet are made from rice krispie treats, iced and covered with flesh colored fondant.  The blanket is a piece of blue fondant and I ran my pizza cutter over it to make the quilted lines.  The border is blue and brown balls of fondant that were flattened.

The baby's name was added to the top.  I usually put the parents name on the side of the cake, but with this being only 1 layer, no filling I didn't have the room.  So I went to my trusty cricut and cut out sign using the Storybook cartride and ran it through my printer to get the sentiment centered on there.  The little rattle is from Cricut Sampler and the teddy bear is from the Christmas Solutions cartridge.

This was the second baby bottom cake I've done, the first was for a girl shower.

I think these are the most adorable cakes!

I'll be back tomorrow with a card I made using the CTMH Chantilly papers again.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

My first blog post and a Monster Birthday

Welcome to my first blog post!  We celebrated my son's 6th birthday yesterday. Here are some of the projects I made.  Sorry I don't have any sizings or anything, this was a spur of the moment decision to do this :-)

These are the invitations I made with my Cricut:
I used Mini Monsters in Cricut Craft Room and welded two together to make my card.  The top layer was embossed with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder and my Cuddlebug.  I added some googly eyes for fun.  The tag was stamped with a Jaded Blossoms Monster Mash stamp.

The invitation stamp is one I had for long time, I'm not sure where it's from but probably picked it up at Michaels.

I also made some door signs and a birthday banner with my Cricut:

I used Craft Room Basics for the scalloped squares and circles.  I used the Cartoon Font from Cuttin' Up cartridge and Mini Monsters again to mimic the invitations.

Here's the banner all together:

I made two of these door signs.  I used Ribbons and Rosettes for the postage stamp shape

I think the boo and eek stamps are from a Studio G set I picked up at Walmart around Halloween.
I used fonts from a few different cartridges for the words.  I used Cake Basics for Warning, I used Birthday Bash for Birthday - this was from the phrase feature that says Birthday Wishes and I used the hide option in cricut craft room so only Birthday would cut out.  I faux stitched around it with a black gel pen for a little detail.  And I think I used A Frightful Affair for the Monster font, but I'm not sure about that one.  And again I used Mini Monsters to add the monster like the invitation and added googly eyes.

Here is the cake I made.  This is not the initial design I had in mind.  My son asked to design it himself so I let him design and I just did the work - I think he did a pretty good job!

I hope you enjoyed my projects. I'll be working on small Teacher Appreciation gifts for each day the next week.  I'll be back with these projects and more as I slowly learn about the world of blogging!
